Kathmandu Valley shaken by early morning tremors

KATHMANDU: An earthquake was felt in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas early Wednesday morning.

According to the National Seismological and Research Center, the magnitude-5 quake struck Dingze, China—approximately 18 kilometers north of Nepal’s border—at 4:05 AM.

Meanwhile, the Jajarkot district in Nepal has been experiencing frequent seismic activity in recent days. A 4.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded in Kushe Rural Municipality at 4:53 AM on Tuesday, while a 4.1 magnitude tremor hit the area at 9:31 PM on Monday. No damage has been reported from Monday’s quake.
