‘Nature-based solution for sustainable conservation’

KATHMANDU: Minister for Forest and Environment, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, has said natured-based solution were imperative to sustainable conservation of nature.

Minister Shahi said it during the 13th council meeting of the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization (INBAR) in Beijing, China on Thursday. The Minister also presided over the council meeting.

On the occasion, the Minister underlined the need of transformative use of bamboo, cane and rattan to address green economy, reduce climate change impacts, and foster sustainable biodiversity, according to Nepali Embassy in China.

The exchange of knowledge and expertise among the member countries would help ensure global sustainable practices.

He extended thanks to the Chinese government, all member states and INBAR secretariat.

Minister Shahi also welcomed Uruguay and Dominican Republic as new members.

Nepali Ambassador to China, Krishna Prasad Oli, shed light on importance of various species of bamboo and canes found in Nepal.
