KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) staged a protest today against the continued detention of its leaders arrested during a recent royalist demonstration.

On Sunday afternoon, RPP leaders and supporters gathered in the Baneshwar area, demanding a change in the political system and the unconditional release of senior party figures.

The protest was centered on the arrest of RPP Senior Vice Chair Rabindra Mishra and General Secretary and House of Representatives member Dhawal Shumsher Rana, who were taken into custody during a demonstration at Tinkune on Chaitra 15 (March 28). Participants chanted slogans such as “Bring back the King, Save the Nation,” and “Our King, Our Country, Dearer Than Life.” The RPP had previously announced plans to defy restrictions and protest in prohibited areas if their detained leaders were not released.

Due to the ongoing Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) protest, traffic has been diverted from Maitighar to Babarmahal, extending to New Baneshwor. Vehicles normally traveling along this route are now being redirected through alternate areas, including Sinamangal, Tinkune, New Baneshwor, Maitighar, Thapathali, and Krishnapauroti.
