KATHMANDU: Nepal is under the influence of western and local wind systems, as well as moisture-rich air entering from the Bay of Bengal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division.
Currently, hilly regions including Koshi Province are experiencing partly to mostly cloudy skies, while the rest of the country sees mostly clear to partly cloudy conditions. Some areas of Koshi Province have already reported light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
By this afternoon, the hilly areas are expected to stay partly to mostly cloudy, with chances of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in several locations. Isolated rainfall and thunderstorms may also occur in other parts of the country.
Light rain and snowfall are forecast for mountainous regions in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces. Gusty winds and thunderstorms are also expected in some parts of the Terai in Lumbini Province.
Tonight, skies across the country will remain partly to mostly cloudy. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, while scattered showers are possible in Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces. Light rain or snow may also fall in mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki.
