Two-vehicle collision kills 7 in Chitwan

CHITWAN: Seven people have died and 18 others were injured in a road accident on the Khahare Bridge along the East-West Highway in Rapti Municipality, Chitwan.

According to Chitwan police chief Govinda Puri, the accident occurred early Saturday morning when a passenger bus traveling from Dhangadhi to Kakarbhitta collided head-on with an electric vehicle coming from Makwanpur towards Narayangadh.

Of the deceased, only two have been identified so far: 55-year-old Som Prasad Rupakheti of Hatiya-3, Makwanpur, and 53-year-old Maiya Kumari Neupane of Hetauda Sub-Metropolitan City-5.

The identities of the remaining five victims are yet to be confirmed.

The injured are undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College, Old Medical College, and Bharatpur Hospital.
