KATHMANDU: The protesting teachers have continued their movement for the 27th consecutive day. The ongoing teacher protests in Kathmandu began on the 20th of Chaitra (April 2).
Teachers have gathered once again in the streets of New Baneshwor and Babarmahal, demanding amendments to the School Education Act.
Yesterday, the protests turned tense when a brief clash broke out between the police and the teachers. However, today’s protest has remained peaceful, with teachers carrying placards, chanting slogans, and holding cultural performances to voice their demands.
Despite several attempts by the government to engage in talks with the teachers, no agreement has been reached so far. The government’s failure to address the concerns of the teachers has escalated the protests.
Meanwhile, in today’s session of the parliament, lawmakers have expressed their concerns, urging the government to take the teachers’ demands seriously.
