Two persons including a child died after falling off a cliff and being swept away by a river at Koiralatar of Indrawati rural municipality-5 in Sindhupalchowk district this afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as Goma Dhital, 55, of Chautara Sangachiwkgadhi municipality and five-year-old Bishesh Chalise, of Melamchi municipality-11. The child was Goma nephew.
The incident took place when Indrawati rivulet swept away both of them after they fell from the cliff at a time when Goma was heading towards her maternal home at Indrawati rural municipality-10, said Parbati Chalise, mother of the child.
The bodies that were recovered downstream have been sent to Melamchi for postmortem, said Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Indrajeet Itani.
