LAMJUNG: A violent clash broke out during the district convention of Nepal Tarun Dal—affiliated with the Nepali Congress—resulting in four individuals being injured in a khukuri attack.
The incident took place on Saturday during the opening session of the organization’s fifth district convention at Pragatitol Ama Samuha Bhawan, located in Besisahar Municipality-8.
The injured have been identified as Khushijung Gurung, regional president of Tarun Dal and ward chair of Besisahar Municipality-9; Kishorejung Basnet, a member of the Nepali Congress Lamjung District Working Committee; Sudip Adhikari, a central member of the Nepal Students’ Union; and Dhan Ghale, a Nepal Tarun Dal member.
The details were confirmed by Resham Bohora, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the Lamjung District Police Office.
Gurung and Adhikari, who sustained more serious injuries, are undergoing treatment at Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur.
Preliminary reports suggest that the altercation was triggered by disagreements over delegate selection and full-time membership criteria. Police stated that the incident arose from tensions between two opposing factions within the organization.
