KATHMANDU: Ward chairs in the Kathmandu Metropolitan City have refused to accept the responsibilities assigned to them by Mayor Balen Shah.

In a statement released on Sunday, the ward chairs mentioned that the responsibilities were not approved by the executive meeting of the metropolis, and therefore, they would not accept them.

Those rejecting the assigned roles include Birendra Prajapati, Chair of Ward No. 5, who was tasked with the Information Technology Committee; Binod Kumar Rajbhandari, Chair of Ward No. 24, who was given the responsibility of the Heritage and Tourism Committee; and Dal Bahadur Karki, Chair of Ward No. 30, who was assigned as the Coordinator of the Good Governance Committee.
