Westerly winds expected to bring rain and strong winds today

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s weather is being influenced by westerly and local winds, along with moisture-laden air masses from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, according to the Weather Forecasting Division.

As a result, the country is seeing increased cloud cover, with the potential for rain, snowfall, and strong winds across various regions.

This afternoon, the weather will be partly to mostly cloudy in the hilly areas of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces. The rest of the country will experience mostly clear to partly cloudy skies.

The forecast also includes the possibility of light to moderate rain, with thunder and lightning, in a few locations in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces.

Isolated rain showers are expected in other areas, with light rain or snowfall in the high hills and mountainous regions. Additionally, gusty winds are forecast in some Terai regions, particularly in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Madhes Provinces.

For tonight, the weather will remain partly to mostly cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces, while the rest of the country will stay mainly clear to partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is expected in a few areas of these provinces, with some isolated spots in the hilly regions of other provinces also experiencing rain.
