KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division (WFD) under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has indicated that the current weather conditions across the country are being influenced by westerly and local winds, along with some impact from moisture-laden air coming from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea.
As per the Division, hilly regions—particularly in Koshi and Gandaki provinces—are experiencing partly to generally cloudy skies, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear to partly cloudy.
Thunderstorms and lightning have been reported in isolated areas throughout all provinces.
This afternoon, cloudy conditions are expected to persist in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while the weather will remain partly cloudy elsewhere.
There is a chance of light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning in a few areas within these provinces.
Light rain and snowfall are also likely in some high-altitude hilly and mountainous areas. Additionally, windstorms may affect parts of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and the Terai regions of Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces.
During the night, partly to mostly cloudy conditions are forecast for Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, mainly in the hilly regions, while other areas are expected to stay mostly clear to partly cloudy.
The Division has advised the public to remain alert, as potential rain, storms, and snowfall could disrupt daily activities, agriculture, health services, and transportation by road and air.
