KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Council of Ministers has been scheduled for this evening at 6:30 PM.
The meeting is expected to discuss various issues, including the government’s upcoming policy and program announcement slated for Baisakh 19 (May 2).
Similarly, the meeting is expected to finalize the recommendation committee for the appointment of a new Governor. A new member needs to be appointed to the committee after the resignation of Bijayanath Bhattarai.The meeting may also deliberate on the demands of protesting teachers and medical doctors.
Teachers have been staging protests in Kathmandu, demanding the promulgation of a new Education Act. The movement has brought all educational activities — including the student enrollment campaign in public schools and the evaluation of SEE answer sheets — to a halt.
Similarly, resident doctors are protesting, demanding government-level allowances and other benefits. Since Friday, they have halted all services except for emergency care.
