KATHMANDU: A meeting chaired by Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire and attended by leaders of major political parties has agreed to form a seven-member special parliamentary committee to investigate alleged tampering related to the “cooling-off period” provision in the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080.
The committee will be mandated to submit its report within 15 days. According to CPN-UML Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula, the committee will be led by the Nepali Congress.
It will comprise two members each from the ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, along with one member each representing the opposition parties—Maoist Centre, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
The names of the committee members are expected to be finalized on Monday.
