KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairperson Rajendra Lingden has accused the government of engaging in a politics of suppression.

Speaking during the emergency session of the House of Representatives on Friday, Lingden alleged that the government is attempting to stifle opposition voices by violating the Constitution.

He expressed concern over the detention of Rabindra Mishra and other political prisoners, claiming that they were held in custody in a disrespectful manner solely because of their differing views.

Additionally, Lingden pointed out that the Chairperson of RPP-affiliated Youth Democratic Union was arrested by the Cyber Bureau, further asserting that the government is deliberately practicing suppression.

Lingden warned that if the government’s formal policy is to suppress dissenting voices, RPP would move towards rebellion.

He also condemned the government’s actions, labeling them as a violation of human rights, constitutional principles, and democratic rights, expressing strong disapproval of the approach taken.
