KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives session, scheduled for 11 AM on Monday, began after a short delay but was immediately obstructed by lawmakers from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

The protest was sparked by allegations linking Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak to a visit visa scandal.

As soon as the meeting commenced, RSP and RPP lawmakers stood up from their seats and began chanting slogans, demanding Lekhak’s resignation and government action against human trafficking.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire allowed RPP Chair Rajendra Lingden and RSP Chief Whip Santosh Pariyar to speak, both of whom urged him not to proceed with the session amidst the protest.

Lingden warned of a formal boycott if the meeting was forcibly conducted and announced they would not accept allowance for the boycotted day.

Despite the protests, Speaker Ghimire proceeded with the session to continue the budget debate.
