KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives, which has been continuously obstructed, is scheduled to meet again today.

The meeting has been called for 1:00 PM at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor.

On Thursday, opposition parties—including the CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Swatantra Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and the Aam Janata Party—disrupted the parliamentary proceedings. Consequently, Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire adjourned the meeting until today.

Today’s session was primarily expected to feature a proposal by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, calling for a general discussion on the “Annual Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for Fiscal Year 2025/26” along with his statement. However, the continuation of protests has put this plan in doubt.

Since Jestha 13 (May 27), the House of Representatives has not been able to proceed with its regular agenda due to the ongoing obstruction.

The protesting opposition parties are demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and the formation of an investigation committee over the “visit visa scandal.”

The ruling coalition, however, has yet to accept these demands, causing continued disruption of parliamentary business.
