KATHMANDU: The Janamat Party and Nagarik Unmukti Party are set to announce their merger today. The event will take place at 11 AM at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

Following the merger, the combined entity will be known as the Nagarik Janamat Party. Resham Chaudhary from Nagarik Unmukti will become the party’s patron, while CK Raut from Janamat will take on the role of President, and Ranjita Shrestha from Nagarik Unmukti will serve as Co-President. The new party’s election symbol will be the Dhakiya (traditional basket).

According to the merger agreement, the leadership hierarchy will follow the order of Chaudhary, Raut, and Shrestha.

The party will be structured with a 25-member central office bearer team, a 51-member central working committee, and at least 700 central committee members, with an equal split of 350 members from each party.

With the merger, the unified party will hold 10 seats in the House of Representatives—six from Janamat and four from Nagarik Unmukti.
