KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has said that the government’s ordinances will be approved with the support of JSP Nepal.

The ordinance is set to be presented for approval at the House of Representatives and National Assembly on Thursday.

Earlier, JSP Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav met with NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

On Thursday, Yadav met with President Deuba, General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma, and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak at the Federal Parliament Building in New Baneshwor. He then went to Baluwatar to meet with the Prime Minister.

After his meetings with Deuba and Prime Minister Oli, Yadav attended a parliamentary party meeting with JSP Nepal. According to Congress Chief Whip Shyam Ghimire, the ordinance will be approved with JSP Nepal’s support.

Although the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML hold a majority in the House of Representatives, they still need JSP Nepal’s three MPs to secure a majority in the National Assembly.

“JSP Nepal continues to support the government and is positive about passing the ordinance,” Ghimire stated. “There is no reason to oppose the ordinance.”
