KATHMANDU: The Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has withdrawn its support to the government and informed Speaker Devaraj Ghimire.

On Sunday, a delegation led by MP Gangaram Chaudhary met the Speaker to deliver the letter indicating their move to the opposition.

State Minister for Tourism Arun Kumar Chaudhary, who represents the party in the government, is set to resign.

Party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha said Chaudhary will submit his resignation to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli once he returns from Humla.

“The Speaker has been informed. We will submit the minister’s resignation after the Prime Minister returns,” Shrestha stated.

The parliamentary party of NUP decided on Saturday to withdraw from the government.
