KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli claimed that his party remains at the forefront of the fight against all forms of regression, pledging to protect the people’s rights and the nation’s sovereignty.
Speaking at the 10th National Convention of the Youth Association Nepal, Oli warned against reviving monarchist dreams, stating, “There is no astrological prediction in the people’s destiny for the return of monarchy—so stop dreaming such illusions.”
In a sharp rebuke to former Nepal Academy Vice-Chancellor Jagman Gurung, who cited ex-King Gyanendra’s horoscope to claim monarchy would return, Oli said, “Looking at the former king’s chart is not enough. Look at the people’s destiny. You can read mine too. The throne is history. The monarchy discarded by the people will not return.”
Condemning what he described as regressive elements making irresponsible remarks—even suggesting helicopter escape routes for the Prime Minister—Oli warned, “Such conspiracies will be turned to dust. The Youth Association must stand at the frontline. We must always be ready to counter such threats.”
