KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s planned address to Parliament today has been postponed. The address was initially scheduled during the first meeting of the budget session, which begins at 1 PM.
The Prime Minister’s speech was called off because key opposition leaders would not be present in the House.
Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, a leader of the opposition alliance, will also be absent from today’s parliamentary meeting.
It is customary for leaders of all major parties, including those in the opposition, to be present when the Prime Minister addresses Parliament. However, as the opposition leader is out of the capital and unable to attend, the address has been postponed for another day.
The government had made preparations for Prime Minister Oli to speak on the very first day of the budget session. However, the speech will now take place at a later date once all major party leaders are present.
