LALITPUR: Former Vice President of the Nepali Congress, Bimalendra Nidhi said that the system to change leader and government rests on people in a democratic system.
Nidhi, also the former Deputy Prime Minister, said this in his address to the Bagmati province level programme ‘youth contribution in nation-building, fact-based publicity campaign’ organized by NC Department of Information, Communications and Publicity in Sanepa today.
He stressed the need of organizational, ideological, political and thought-provoking debate to create positive thoughts among the people to the current system, including republic.
“People should be made assured that the federal democratic republic system would go eternal. Government may change, leaders can change; leadership change through ballot is normal in a democratic system. The successful experiment of democratic system needs to be done in favour of the people”.
Leader Nidhi cautioned the leaders and cadres to break the ongoing fake narrative that the system has changed but not the situation, and called for them to engage efforts for attaining prosperity.
“NC has done a lot for participatory policy-making and inclusive governance, more changes have tangibly occurred than before”, he claimed, adding that the people have the right to caution the parties, leaders and leadership in a democracy.
“NC has made significant contributions to the nation-building, specifically management of the state system, development of the legislature, judiciary and the executive, systematic income and expenditure system of the state, development of the democratic state system”, the NC’s former vice-president asserted.
Also speaking on the topic, NC’s assistant general secretary Mahalakshmi Upadhyay Dina underlined the need of launching an ideological campaign to enable youth in the party by presenting the glorious history of the party.
“It is not appropriate to make the party’s opinion only on the basis of the opinions that have come on social media”, she said, adding that the party should be proactive in crafting a beautiful future by reviewing the works done in the past.
Information Department Chief and central member of NC, Min Bishwokarma stressed the need to put an end to the negative perception that is prevailing among the people.
“It is necessary to eliminate negative perception and misconceptions about the party across the country. The youth need to be made aware of the contribution made by the youth of the Congress to the nation-building after 2007 BS.
Senior journalists Hari Bahadur Thapa and Dr Jagat Nepal delivered separate presentations on the fact-based political journey and history of the NC.
