KATHMANDU: UML lawmaker Raghuji Panta has been appointed as the new Minister for Education, Science and Technology.

The Office of the President confirmed the Cabinet’s recommendation for Panta’s appointment today (Wednesday).

Panta is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy tomorrow (Thursday).

His appointment comes two days after Bidya Bhattarai stepped down from the post, following mounting pressure from ongoing teachers’ protests in Kathmandu.
