POKHARA: The hearing on the bail petition filed by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane is ongoing on Friday as well.
The Supreme Court bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Bal Krishna Dhakal has been hearing the case since Tuesday.
Wednesday’s hearing was postponed because Justice Nahakul Subedi was occupied with another case before the constitutional bench.
On Thursday, arguments from the lawyers representing Lamichhane were completed.
Today, the petitioner’s side will present further arguments, followed by rebuttal arguments.
Lamichhane is currently in pretrial detention at the Rupandehi District Prison in Bhairahawa in connection with a cooperative fraud case.
In the Butwal Supreme Cooperative fraud case, the District Court Rupandehi had initially granted Lamichhane bail. However, the High Court Butwal overturned this order and sent him to pretrial detention.
Lamichhane had also filed a petition against this decision in the Supreme Court. Both petitions are being heard simultaneously.
