KATHMANDU:  Resham Chaudhary, the patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP), who was arrested during the party unity declaration program with the Janamat Party, has been sent to Dillibazar Jail by police.

Chaudhary was taken into custody earlier today by a team from the Kathmandu District Police during the event, which was organized to formalize the unification of NUP and the Janamat Party.

According to Superintendent of Police Apil Raj Bohara, Chaudhary was arrested and sent to jail in execution of a Supreme Court order related to the Tikapur case.

The Supreme Court had sentenced him to life imprisonment, naming him the key orchestrator of the violent Tikapur incident in Kailali.

Chaudhary had previously served time in prison for the case and was released after receiving a presidential pardon on Republic Day.
