KATHMANDU: Following an emergency Central Committee meeting, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said it respects the Supreme Court’s verdict against party chief Rabi Lamichhane but raised serious doubts over the legal reasoning, calling it flawed and politically motivated.

In a statement by Acting Spokesperson Manish Jha, the RSP argued that Lamichhane’s link to the cooperative fraud case was unjustified, suggesting it falls under company law, not cooperative regulations.

The party warned that misuse of the judiciary to target political opponents would erode public trust.

The RSP also demanded the immediate resignation of the Home Minister over his alleged involvement in a human trafficking racket disguised as visit visa processing.

Citing parliamentary precedent, the party said failure to resign would only deepen public distrust.

The party plans to hold its next Central Committee meeting on May 25 in Baneshwor.
