KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) boycotted Tuesday’s meeting of the House of Representatives in protest against the government’s formation of a probe committee on the visit visa controversy.
The party expressed strong dissatisfaction with the appointment of former Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi as the head of the investigation panel. According to the RSP, the committee lacks both independence and credibility, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the investigation.
RSP leaders have long been calling for an impartial and transparent inquiry into widespread irregularities in the visit visa system. The party argues that the system has become a key conduit for organized human trafficking and high-level corruption, and that only an independent investigation can expose those responsible.
By walking out of the House, the RSP escalated its pressure on the government, signaling that it will not accept what it sees as an attempt to whitewash the scandal under the guise of a politically influenced committee.
