KATHMANDU: Opposition parties Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) walked out of the House of Representatives on Friday, expressing strong discontent over the government’s failure to address key demands.

The protest began immediately after the session started, with lawmakers from both parties rising from their seats in protest.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire urged them to return to their seats, but they refused. Consequently, the Speaker proceeded with the scheduled agenda and resumed the discussion on ministry-wise budget allocations.

RSP has been demanding a high-level investigation committee to probe the recent visit visa scandal and the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. Frustrated by what they call deliberate inaction, RSP lawmakers boycotted the rest of the session.

“Today, we are not being heard. We’re not even allowed to speak. We’re accused of obstruction, but none of our concerns are being addressed.

That’s why we chose to boycott today’s session,” said RSP lawmaker Sumana Shrestha, speaking to the media outside the Parliament building.
