KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to hold a Central Committee meeting today, as per acting spokesperson Manish Jha. This decision was taken during a recent Secretariat meeting.

According to Jha, the committee will discuss crucial matters related to the party’s ongoing mass march, which began in Chitwan on Chaitra 23. The march was launched a day after the Tulshipur High Court issued an arrest warrant for party President Rabi Lamichhane, overturning an earlier decision by the Rupandehi District Court that had granted him bail.

Lamichhane was taken into custody from his Hattigauda residence. His arrest was reportedly a symbolic move aimed at drawing attention to problems in Nepal’s prison system. Despite his detention, the RSP initiated the march but has not continued the program since.

Today’s meeting is expected to determine the party’s next steps regarding the suspended campaign. Additionally, with Lamichhane currently imprisoned, the party is also weighing the possibility of delaying its upcoming general convention. The Central Committee will make the final call on that decision.
