KATHMANDU: The lawmakers of the ruling parties have defended the ordinances brought by the government while the opposition lawmakers criticized the ordinances stating that they were introduced bypassing parliament.

Speaking at the special hour of parliament meeting on Sunday, the ruling parties’ lawmakers said the private sector and general public were excited from the ordinances.

Nepali Congress lawmaker Bishwa Prakash Sharma said some issues of the land-related ordinance should be corrected from the replacement bill.

UML lawmaker Padam Giri said the private sector has welcomed the ordinances since it has created hopes.

However, CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Devendra Paudel said the government should abide by the parliamentary processes and stated that bringing ordinances to amend 31 laws was against the constitution.

Lawmaker of CPN (Unified Socialist) Prakash Jwala, Rastriya Swotantra Party’s lawmaker Ganesh Parajuli, Janamat Party’s Abdul Khan, Nagarik Unmukti Party’s Gangaram Chaudhary, Nepal Workers Peasants Party’s Prem Suwal, UML’s Rishikesh Pokhrel and other lawmakers raised different issues in the HoR meeting.
