KATHMANDU: The Nepal Samajbadi Party is launching its first general convention today (Sunday).

Preparations for the event, scheduled from February 9 to 11, have been completed.

Hisila Yami, the Coordinator of the Convention Management Committee, announced that 1,500 delegates will participate in the event, which will be held at Nepal Academy in Kamaladi.

Yami highlighted that the convention will focus on enhancing inclusivity within the party, aligning it with the Constitution, along with strengthening political practices and party-building efforts. Intra-party democracy will also be a key point of discussion.

The event will include the election of 11 new office bearers and 99 central committee members.

The party remains hopeful that the convention will foster cooperation with alternative and progressive political groups.
