KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of Supreme Court Section Officer Mahiman Singh Bista on a bail of Rs 100,000.

Bista came under investigation after sending an unauthorized letter to police and prison officials on April 30, 2025, ordering the arrest of Resham Chaudhary, patron of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP).

Chaudhary was briefly taken into custody but released the same day when the letter was deemed illegitimate.

Following the incident, the police investigated Bista on charges of document forgery and submitted an investigation report.

Based on the report, the government prosecutor filed a charge sheet against him at the Kathmandu District Court.

Judge Din Bandhu Baral presided over the case and granted Bista bail.
