KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court is scheduled to continue hearing a habeas corpus petition today concerning Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane.
On Tuesday, a division bench of Justices Nahakul Subedi and Balkrishna Dhakal began proceedings but was unable to reach a conclusion, leading to the hearing being adjourned to Wednesday.
The petition, filed by Lamichhane’s wife, Nikita Poudel, on April 20, challenges his continued judicial custody. The case has faced several delays for various reasons, but a full hearing finally commenced on Tuesday.
Lamichhane has been held in pre-trial detention following an April 4 order from the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court. The petition before the Supreme Court seeks to overturn that decision.
