KATHMANDU: Internet services were disrupted across Nepal last night, affecting both Nepal Telecom and all private-sector internet providers.

Sources indicate that the disruption was caused by unpaid dues exceeding 6 billion rupees to Indian company Airtel for internet bandwidth.

As a result, internet services from various providers, including Worldlink, DishHome, Ncell, and Vianet, were severely impacted.

Hari Dhakal, Manager and Spokesperson for Nepal Telecom, explained that the issue arose with Nepali internet service providers reliant on Indian companies.

He added that a study is underway to resolve the technical problems.
