KATHMANDU: The Nepali Army (NA) is celebrating its 262nd founding day with various programs across the country today.
President Ram Chandra Poudel is scheduled to attend as the chief guest at a special program organized by the Nepal Army at Army Pavilion, Tundikhel in Kathmandu, marking both Shivaratri and Army Day.
President Poudel, who is the Supreme Commander of the Nepal Army, will oversee the event.
For the past two decades, the Nepal Army has been observing Mahashivaratri as Army Day.
To commemorate the occasion, various cultural programs will take place at Sainik Manch, including parades (arms exercises), cannon salutes, and processions.
The combined celebration of Mahashivaratri and Army Day, both integral to the nation’s culture and tradition, will take place at Sainik Manch Tundikhel as well as at units, battalions, regiments, and other facilities across the country, according to Nepali Army Spokesperson Gaurav Kumar KC.
He emphasized that the Nepali Army has always been an institution grounded in national values, norms, traditions, and culture since its inception.
The Army Day celebrations will also feature musical performances by the Nepali Army, as well as the armies of India, the UK, and the United States.
