MAKWANPUR: Fourteen people were injured in a road accident in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality of Makwanpur district after a Winger van suffered a brake failure and veered off the road on Tuesday afternoon.

The vehicle (Province 2-03-001 Ja 0147) was en route from Chitlang to Lalbandi, Bara, when it skidded approximately 20 meters off the road at the Chhaisaṭthi bend of the Tribhuvan Highway within Bhimphedi.

According to District Police Office Makwanpur spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Shyamu Aryal, the van reportedly got stuck in a tree after falling off the road.

Following the incident, a team of 25 police personnel from Bhainse and Simbhanjyang posts were mobilized for rescue operations and transported the injured to Hetauda Hospital.

Among the 14 passengers, police reported that three individuals are in critical condition.
