KATHMANDU: The Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KITT) in Odisha, India has apologized for the beating and mistreatment of Nepali students, alongside the mysterious death of Prakriti Lamsal.
The university has expressed deep sorrow over the incident that occurred after the death of Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal.
Additionally, two wardens and an administrative officer of the hostel have been suspended, and an internal investigation has been launched.
The institution had previously apologized for the incident on Monday but has now acted further under public pressure.
Two senior hostel officers and a senior administrative officer of the International Relations Office have been suspended pending a full investigation. The campus staff is actively working to ensure that the students return to campus as soon as possible KIIT stated in a press note issued this morning.
A control room has been set up to facilitate the return of Nepali students to the campus. It has apologized for the problems faced by Nepali students.
The college emphasized that it prioritizes student welfare and continues to work toward ensuring the safe return of the affected students.
