TAPLEJUNG: Nine people, including the driver, were injured in a Bolero jeep accident in Taplejung.
According to police, the jeep was traveling from Nalbu in Meringden Rural Municipality–6 toward the district headquarters, Phungling, when it met with the accident.
Taplejung’s Chief of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bed Prasad Gautam, stated that the jeep (registration number Me 1 Cha 1317) lost control due to brake failure and crashed at Sakphara in Santhakra, Ward 2 of the same rural municipality.
The accident occurred at around 11:15 AM on Friday. The driver, 25-year-old Sangay Sherpa of Nalbu, was injured in the accident. He sustained a head injury.
Among the passengers injured in the jeep were 17-year-old Dawa Sherpa, 68-year-old Bhim Kumar Limbu, 24-year-old Anjana Sherpa, and 26-year-old Chunu Mabo Limbu—all from Nalbu.
Additionally, 17-year-old Dawa Chhunda Sherpa, 23-year-old Furlhamu Sherpa, 51-year-old Guba Sherpa (all from Nalbu), and 24-year-old Pramila Sherpa of Change, Ward 5, Aathrai Tribeni Rural Municipality, were also injured.
According to DSP Gautam, the injured sustained wounds to the head, hands, legs, chin, abdomen, and other parts of the body.
The injured were being transported to Taplejung District Hospital for treatment via an ambulance from Meringden Rural Municipality, police added.
