One dead, six arrested in ‘gang fight’ at wedding

BANKE: A person injured in a ‘gang fight’ at a wedding ceremony in Baijnath, Banke has died. Police have arrested six people on charges of killing a teenager by attacking him with a sharp weapon during a fight at a wedding ceremony in Banke.

The arrested are Manisha Rana, 30, of Baijnath Rural Municipality-2, Ram Bahadur Rana, 34, of the same place, Vision Nepali, 18, of Ward No. 6 of the same rural municipality, Him Bahadur Budha, 29, of Shivalaya Rural Municipality-7, Jajarkot, Amrita Dangi, 27, of Dang Babai Rural Municipality-6, and Sujan Budha, 18, of Banke Baijnath Rural Municipality-8.

On Magh 10, at around 9:30 pm, there was a fight at the wedding of Subash Budha, a resident of Baijnath Rural Municipality-8. During the fight, a sharp weapon was used and 18-year-old Dinesh Rokaya of the same place, was seriously injured. The injured Rokaya was taken to Lucknow, India, for treatment, but he died during treatment on Sunday morning.

The six people involved in the incident have been taken into custody and their remand in the case of culpable homicide has been extended by the Banke District Court. DSP Ayush Prasad Joshi of the District Police Office, Banke, informed that the investigation and action process has been taken forward in this incident.
