KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) has opened the RSS Media Museum News Bulletin Room to the general public from today.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung inaugurated the room on the occasion of the 64th anniversary of RSS.

The news bulletins have been archived in the museum since the establishment of RSS on February 18, 1962.
RSS Executive Chairman Dharmendra Jha said that the news bulletin, which is an important asset and achievement of RSS, has been opened for students studying journalism and the media scholars.

Stating that RSS is a state organization and its bulletins and news products are not only the property of RSS but also of all Nepalis, Executive Chairman Jha said that the bulletin room has been opened so that everyone gets the opportunity to study these bulletins and carry out research.

RSS General Manager Siddharaj Rai said that the RSS News Bulletin Room would benefit those interested in media research, students of mass communication and active journalists as well as help in studying the evolution of news agency in Nepal.

He said that the bulletin room has been set up to keep alive the history of RSS and to make the archiving of old news bulletins systematic. These bulletins had been stored in the warehouse and were in decrepit condition after the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake damaged the RSS’ old building.
