KATHMANDU: A tragic accident involving a school bus in Sankhu, Kathmandu, has resulted in the deaths of three students and left dozens injured.
Kathmandu Police Spokesperson, SP Apilraj Bohara, confirmed that 40 students sustained injuries in the crash.
Sushanka Dotel was declared dead while undergoing treatment at Shankharapur Hospital.
Another student died at NMC Hospital, and a third passed away at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, according to Bohara.
The bus, operated by Sundarimai Yatayat (Ba 2 Kha 7958), was returning from a picnic in Nagarkot, organized by SS Academy in Chabahil.
The accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday in Shankharapur Municipality-5, when the vehicle’s brakes failed, causing it to lose control on the Sankhu-Nagarkot road in Kattike.
The injured passengers are receiving medical care at various hospitals.
