KATHMANDU: Two young girls lost their lives after drowning in a waterlogged pit in Birgunj Metropolitan City-5, Parsa, earlier today.
According to Parsa District Police Spokesperson Kishor Lamsal, five-year-old Neha Miya and four-year-old Afsana Miya drowned in the waterlogged pit
The two girls had reportedly gone to graze goats in the morning. It is suspected that they accidentally fell into the pit while playing. They were immediately rushed to Narayani Hospital in Birgunj but were pronounced dead by doctors upon arrival.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident. Local authorities and police are conducting further assessments at the scene to determine accountability and the lack of safety measures at the site.
