DOLPA: A clash broke out between two groups collecting Yarsagumba in Dolpa, prompting police to fire two rounds in the air.

The incident occurred Saturday afternoon at Thala Lek of Thuli Bheri Municipality–1 in Dolpa district, according to Armed Police Force (APF) DSP and spokesperson Shailendra Thapa.

The dispute arose over the border area used for Yarsagumba collection between locals of Maikot Rural Municipality in Rukum and those from Kaike Rural Municipality and Thuli Bheri Municipality in Dolpa.

DSP Thapa said the clash involved hundreds of locals from both sides, which led police to fire warning shots to bring the situation under control.

A security team under the command of an Assistant Sub-Inspector from APF Base No. 46 in Dolpa fired two rounds from an SLR rifle to contain the conflict.

The situation has now returned to normal, officials confirmed.
