KAPILVASTU: Two women who were out for a morning walk in Basantapur, Buddhabhumi Municipality-1, Kapilvastu, tragically lost their lives after being struck by a car on Friday morning.

The accident occurred around 5:45 AM on the Gorusinge-Arghakhanchi road section when a car bearing registration number BAD 9599, heading towards Gorusinge, hit the women.

According to Police Inspector Birat Sharma Poudel of the Area Police Office in Gorusinge, the deceased have been identified as 60-year-old Shanta Khatri and 65-year-old Til Kumari Rayamajhi.

Both were severely injured in the collision and died en route to Kapilvastu Hospital in Taulihawa while receiving medical treatment.

The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Khim Raj Shrestha from Sainamaina Municipality-5, Rupandehi, has been taken into police custody.

Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation into the incident is ongoing to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic accident.
