Senior police officer killed in IED attack in India’s Chhattisgarh

NEW DELHI: A senior police officer was killed and some other personnel accompanying him were wounded Monday when a pressure Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh, police said.

The explosion took place on the Konta-Errabor road in Dondra village of Sukma district, about 411 km south of Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh.

The wounded were immediately removed to the nearest medical facility in Konta.

Authorities have rushed reinforcements to the area and launched search operations to trace the Naxals believed to be behind the attack.

India’s federal government has resolved to eradicate Naxalism before March 31, 2026. Currently, Naxals are active across the central and eastern parts of India.
