KATHMANDU: Defending champions Tribhuvan Army Football Club will take on Church Boys United in the opening match of the 24th Aaha Rara Pokhara Gold Cup football tournament in Pokhara today.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 pm at Pokhara Stadium.
Army will look to defend their title with a victory over Church Boys, who made it to the quarterfinals following a thrilling sudden-death win over NRT in the pre-quarterfinals.
The winner of this match will move on to the semifinals, where they will face Nepal Police Club, who advanced after defeating Brigade Boys Club UK in the quarterfinals.
The tournament, featuring 12 teams, including 3 international clubs, offers a grand prize of Rs. 1.2 million for the winner and Rs. 600,000 for the runner-up.
