CAN bids farewell to Nepal’s Cricket Team for World Cup League 2

KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has bid farewell to the national cricket team ahead of their departure for the ICC World Cup League 2 triangular one-day series in Scotland.

The farewell ceremony took place in Mulapani on Wednesday, with CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand, Secretary Paras Khadka, and central member Chhumbi Lama in attendance. However, captain Rohit Kumar Paudel was absent due to his ongoing Grade 12 examinations.

According to CAN, head coach Stuart Law had already left for the UK due to personal reasons and will join the team there. Paudel, once his exams are complete, will join the team in Scotland.

Before heading to Scotland, Nepal will play practice matches against a local team from the UK, and also against Scotland’s ‘A’ team. The team is scheduled to depart for Scotland at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.

As part of the League 2 series, Nepal will play against Scotland and the Netherlands from June 2 to 10. Following the League 2 series, Nepal will face both countries in a T20I series from June 15 to 20.

Squad Nepal’s squad for the ICC World Cup League 2 includes captain Rohit Kumar Paudel, vice-captain Dipendra Singh Airee, and wicketkeeper Asif Sheikh. The team also features players such as Kushal Bhurtel, Gulshan Kumar Jha, Anil Kumar Shah, Bhim Sarki, Sompal Kami, Arif Sheikh, Basir Ahmed, Nandan Yadav, Rijan Dhakal, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi, Sandeep Lamichhane, and Karan KC.
