Footballer Bhandari honored with newly inaugurated ‘Samba Square’

LAMJUNG: A new landmark named ‘Samba Chowk’ (Samba Square) has been established near Simpani Khudipul, Marsyangdi Rural Municipality–9, in honor of renowned footballer Sabitra Bhandari ‘Samba.’

Born in Pamchok, Marsyangdi–9, Bhandari is celebrated for her achievements in football, with the chowk featuring a sketch and pillar dedicated to her legacy.

The monument was inaugurated by Marsyangdi Rural Municipality Chairperson Arjun Gurung.

The event was attended by Chief District Officer Madhav Prasad Pokharel, Rural Municipality Vice-Chair Junamaya Thapa, DSP Ramesh Bohora of the District Police Office, DSP Deepak Puri of the Armed Police Force, and Investigation Chief Bishnuhari Pandit, among others.

Samba is currently associated with French top division football club Annecy FC and has gained fame both in Nepal and internationally.
