KATHMANDU: The Nepal Women’s Cricket Team has secured its place in the Super Three stage of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifiers, currently underway in Thailand.

Nepal advanced after the scheduled Group ‘C’ match between Hong Kong and Bahrain was canceled due to rain on Friday.

Both Nepal and Hong Kong finished the group stage with five points each. However, Nepal moved ahead based on having more victories, as per ICC playing conditions which state that when teams have equal points after the double round-robin league, the team with the highest number of wins advances.

Nepal recorded two wins, one loss, and one no-result from four matches, while Hong Kong had only one win and three no-results.

During the group stage, Nepal defeated Bahrain twice — once by nine wickets and again by six wickets under the Duckworth-Lewis method. The first match between Nepal and Hong Kong was also abandoned due to rain.
