KATHMANDU: The Nepal women’s national football team has slipped one place in the latest FIFA rankings, falling from 99th to 100th position. The new rankings were published by FIFA on Thursday.
Nepal’s ranking dropped by 0.12 points after a recent 2-0 friendly loss to Thailand on June 2, 2025. Thailand improved its position to 46th. Earlier, Nepal had reached 99th following a four-nation tournament in February where they defeated Lebanon and Kyrgyzstan, drew with Myanmar, and lost to Myanmar in the final.
In the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) region, India, the top-ranked team, also slipped one place to 70th after losing both friendly matches 1-0 against Uzbekistan. Bangladesh improved five spots to 128th after drawing friendly matches against Jordan and Indonesia in June.
Other South Asian nations remained mostly unchanged: Pakistan is 157th, Maldives 163rd, Bhutan 171st, while Sri Lanka dropped one place to 159th.
At the top of the FIFA rankings, the United States retains first place, followed by Spain, Germany, Brazil, and England.
